RULES AND REGULATIONS
At Andrea Taylor School of Dance we are passionate about delivering an excellent dance education, encouraging a love of dance and providing a secure foundation from which to grow. We ask that students, parents/carers and staff adhere to our clear rules and regulations policy at all times.
Compliance with our rules is vital if your child wishes to join our school. Please read the following information carefully and be aware that in signing this policy you are agreeing to abide by our rules.
REGISTRATION
We offer a free trial lesson to all new students. After this free trial every student in the school is required to fill out a registration form before they are enrolled. All parts of the form should be completed clearly and returned to the school before any other classes are attended. This signed registration form acts as an agreement between Andrea Taylor School of Dance and parents/carers. Any change in circumstances, such as address, contact number or email must be provided on a new registration form, failure to do so may result in vital information being missed.
INVOICING AND PAYMENT
You will not be charged for the free trial lesson, after this an invoice will be issued for the remaining lessons in the enrolment term; every subsequent invoice will be issued termly, before the term starts. Terms are between 10 and 14 weeks long depending on the school term dates issued by the local council. Fees must be paid before the term starts or by the first 3 weeks of the term. Any fees not received within the first 3 weeks of term will be subject to a 5% administration fee, in line with other dance schools and if fees are not paid in full by half term, we reserve the right to refuse entry to classes. Payment may be made payable to Andrea Taylor School of Dance via bank transfer (sort code: 52-10-48, account number: 18058817). Please use your current invoice number and your child’s name as a reference.
GIVING NOTICE
We require half a term’s written notice by email to the Principal if your child decides they no longer wish to continue with a class (please note, this does not include holidays). We require this notice to give us time to evaluate whether a class is viable after your child’s departure. Overheads such as hall hire, music and equipment, insurances, staffing and memberships will still remain the same and therefore we may need to adjust or cancel classes if your child’s space cannot be filled.
REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS
No refunds are given for missed classes unless there are exceptional circumstances or if we cancel a class. In the event of bad weather, please check the website and Facebook page for information, Parents/carers will also be notified of any changes via text or email. If, in this instance, classes have to be cancelled, the school will not be able to reimburse or replace classes, as hall hire and staffing still have to be paid. However, in all other circumstances where we have to cancel a class, a replacement class or refund will be given.
COMMUNICATION
We will communicate with you by email or letter, sending newsletters, information and invoices. The contents of the school’s emails and letters contain confidential information which is intended only for the recipient. Any unauthorised copying, forwarding or distribution of the material is strictly prohibited. All personal information at the school is kept confidential and will not be discussed with anyone. Please see our Data Protection Policy to see how we use your/your child’s information and what your rights are regarding the information we keep. By signing the registration form you are agreeing to receiving communication from us and allowing us to keep your/your child’s personal data as outlined in our Data Protection Policy.
If you need to communicate with us please do so via email as a first point of contact, our contact details are provided at the bottom of this policy and on our website. We will be happy to discuss matters with you in person, but not directly before or after your child’s class as this takes up valuable teaching time.
All current information including contact details, term dates, uniform requirements, timetables and news etc. will be posted on our website or Facebook page. Please refer to these frequently in case of any changes.
UNIFORM
Please read the uniform section on our website for correct requirements for each class, it is essential that students are dressed correctly in our regulation uniform. (Please note: if you are buying uniform elsewhere, please ensure that it is the correct RAD/ISTD regulation, this will be the only uniform acceptable if your child wishes to take examinations).
Shoes should be correctly fitted by a teacher or at an outfitter. Unless requested by the teacher, ballet shoes should have full soles and elastic to hold the shoes on securely. This is extremely important for the safety of your child and sufficient support of their feet whilst dancing. No high street brand ballet shoes are accepted and if a student’s shoes are not correct we reserve the right to ask for them to be replaced.
No outside clothing is allowed during class, only school branded outer wear. No jewellery is to be worn in class at any time apart from stud earrings that do not hang. Hair must neatly tied back in a bun for all classes; any fringes that drop below the eyebrow must be gripped back or a hair band worn.
The school highly recommends naming all items of uniform; we take no responsibility for any losses incurred on the premises.
EXAMINATIONS
We organise examinations sessions at our premises or at local examination centres. Students will be invited for entry into examinations when they meet the correct age and entry requirements and when we feel they can execute the work to a high enough standard. The examinations are not compulsory, but any student not taking the examination will only move up when they too have reached the correct standard. Upon registering for an examination students will be expected to attend exam-coaching classes to achieve the standard that is expected within the school. These are additional classes that are not included in the exam price or term fee.
The exam fee must be paid by the closing date on the letter you receive. Failure to return exam entry forms and fees on time will mean your child will not be entered for that session.
Please note: once the entries have been sent, the day or time of the examination cannot be changed, and students cannot be substituted or swapped around. Therefore, please do not commit your child to the exam unless you are certain you can make the proposed date as no refunds will be given.

Andrea Taylor School of Dance may use photographs/videos/recordings from shows, performances and classes (including online classes) as educational aids or reproduced for marketing purposes both in print and on its website/social media sites. This is our default position and should you/your child not wish to be depicted please tick the relevant box on the registration from.
